Geek Prom 2007

On Saturday I attended Geek Prom 2007. I pulled out my Close Encounters of the Third Kind T-shirt along with my 80’s bubble dress, and perfected the look with cat eye glasses and pigtails. I was feeling chic ala geek until I had to make the lone walk through downtown St. Paul where I’d be meeting my new blogger friends for a pre prom dinner. My outfit, while appropriate for geeking out, was nothing but an oddity on a Saturday night in the city. Every other girl was wearing the required Saturday night in St. Paul uniform of heels and halter top but me. From the looks I was getting people either thought I was mentally ill or some sort of child’s birthday entertainer. Children stared at me in awe. I glared back at them because I enjoy scaring children and would rather be considered mentally ill, given the choice. Finally I was able to meet up with the rest of my geeked out party and my nervousness faded, although just a bit since I had never actually met most of this group. I had only ever read and posted semi stupid comments on their blogs. But after a few references to old 70’s television shows and jokes of herpes and feces, I felt like we were old friends.

I’ll post more about it tonight. In the meantime check out these sights. Although you probably already saw them and they led you to me.
